Tell us how you received your Hope Coin

Our class helped Marjorie's Hope stuff 100 backpacks for children in need. They love to help the community and if there are any other service projects we could help with feel free to contact me at Wendell Krinn Technical High School Pasco County Florida.

The students love giving back to their community. I are so proud of them

Tell us about the kind act you did to give your Hope Coin away

I pass my coin to Debi Shackowsky, the founder of Marjorie's Hope for always providing for a community in need. She works many hours to find donations of items the teachers and students need to be successful.  xox

Tell us about the kind act you did to give your Hope Coin away

My act of kindness was to affirm and recognize Eileen, an amazing person with a giving heart.  I met Eileen in 2007 when I published my first children’s rhyming story picture book, “Tommie Turtle’s Secret”.  Eileen invited me to share the book with her class for special needs children at an elementary school where she was a Teacher’s Assistant.

Eileen introduced me to several disabled children she was helping, and I learned that she also volunteered to help with the Special Olympics.

Currently, we were out of touch, but Eileen called and invited me to share my life’s story with a class for adults with special needs or disabilities, she was working with at a local technical college.  She wanted me to be an example for the students that having a disability need not keep anyone from having a productive fulfilling life.

My Zoom visit with her class this week was uplifting to me to be back in the classroom again - having retired from teaching at the University of Hawaii for 24 years.     :)

I just wrote a letter to Eileen to thank her for always working to help others be better. Of course I am giving her a Hope Coin, and inviting her to join us in the Hope Challenge by passing it forward.
